Is FixedIP.be a VPN for anonymous browsing?
No. FixedIP.be brings a permanently reachable public IP address to your location. It is not a privacy or anonymity VPN like the well-known consumer VPNs: only the traffic of your fixed IP goes through the tunnel, all your other internet traffic keeps going directly over your own connection.
Does it work behind CGNAT, on 4G/5G or Starlink?
Yes. Your router sets up the WireGuard tunnel to our tunnel servers itself. So you don't need a public or fixed IP address from your provider: even with CGNAT, a mobile connection, Starlink or a dynamic address, you are reachable on your fixed IP.
What happens if a PoP goes down?
You stay reachable. Your router is always connected to both PoPs (Antwerp and Zaventem). If one goes down, the other takes over automatically; your fixed IP stays the same. On a router this happens by itself; on a PC or Mac you switch to the second tunnel yourself.
What is the difference between a /32, a /30 and a /29?
The number tells you how many fixed IP addresses you get: a /32 is one address, a /30 is four, a /29 eight, a /28 sixteen. We route the whole block to your router, so you can use every address: your router forwards each address to a device (1:1 NAT). If, from a /29 up, you want to give the addresses directly to devices on your network, three are lost: the network address, the broadcast address and your router's address. That is why you don't do this with a /30: there you use the four addresses via your router.
What equipment do I need?
Any router or device that supports WireGuard. For MikroTik you get a ready-made .rsc configuration file; for the other platforms there are guides. Paid installation help is available, and you can also buy a preconfigured MikroTik router with everything already set up.
Do I get IPv6 as well?
Yes. Every plan includes an IPv6 subnet, next to your fixed IPv4 address(es).
Are all ports open?
Almost all of them. A few ports are blocked, including TCP port 25.
What am I allowed to do with it?
Servers and hosting are allowed. Not allowed are mail servers, VPN or proxy services, torrents and port scans.
Can I set up reverse DNS (PTR)?
No, reverse DNS cannot be set up or requested.
Is there a speed limit?
We apply a fair use policy. Any limiting happens on our tunnel servers; you don't need to configure anything for it on your own router.
How long am I committed and how do I pay?
Your subscription can be cancelled monthly. If you pay yearly, you only pay 10 months. Payment is made with the QR code on your invoice. At the start we charge a one-time activation fee of €30.25 incl. VAT.
